Liverpool U21s head coach reveals Arthur asked to play with the youth team
Liverpool U21s head coach Barry Lewtas has shared his opinion of Arthur Melo, revealing that he's had a positive impact on the youngsters at the club.
“He wants to get fit, he doesn’t need a week off. It’s been off his own back which shows his level of professionalism. He’s been great with the young lads.
"I don’t think he knew where we were coming tonight but he knew we had a game! In training yesterday he was excellent. He really drove the session. It was probably the best match day minus one we’ve had.
“He doesn’t speak Scouse and I don’t speak Portuguese, but you can tell from his body language that he wants to be around. He’s really embraced it.
“From what I’ve been told, Arthur asked to play.
“Our boys train with the first team a lot but it’s a little bit different when you actually put the shirt on with someone like Arthur.
"You see someone who does everything properly. You can tell why he’s the professional he is. It’s a real good experience for the boys having him around."
As per reports from James Pearce, the plan all along was for Arthur to get up to speed by playing games over the international break so he could be more involved for the busy period of club football before the World Cup.
