Koeman names reason for his flop at Barca, it has to do with transfers
In one of the recent interviews, former Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has brought up the topic of his dismissal from the club once again.
“Maybe my time as a coach in Barcelona was during the worst moment of the club financially. It was the Covid period and we lost Messi and Griezmann,” he said.
“I was lucky as we had good young players, but still we did not have the number of attacking players that I wanted in that season and that is a big difference".
The Dutchman took charge of the club in August 2020 and won the trophy in his first season. Then, however, things didn't go so smoothly as the club legend Lionel Messi left for Paris Saint-Germain.
Of course, no worthy replacement was found. It was also reported that Joan Laporta deliberately blocked Gini Wijnaldum's move that Koeman wanted to happen that summer. A series of poor performances in La Liga and the Champions League followed, eventually leading to his sacking.
