Kante rejects Chelsea's contract extension offer
David Ornstein reveals that Chelsea made N'Golo Kante a contract extension offer in August. The Blues offered him a two-year deal with an option to extend it for a further year.
However, the Frenchman has rejected the proposal, saying he wants a longer deal. He would prefer a three-year contract with a one-year extension clause.
Chelsea are factoring injuries in their contract offer. They are aware that the 31-year-old is quite often unavailable, that's why they offered a two-year deal.
Kante is understood to be keen on staying and retiring at Chelsea. However, the midfielder can't understand why Koulibaly, the same age as him, was given a four-year deal.
So if Chelsea fail to negotiate a new deal with the 31-year-old, N'Golo would leave the Bridge on free agency next summer. There are plenty of teams interested in signing him, including two Premier League sides.
