'He's not the end product. He's going to make mistakes': Rio Ferdinand calls for patient approach for Antony
Speaking on his official YouTube podcast, Rio Ferdinand said: "With Antony, people need to understand, 'Oh, you're paying £85 million'. He's not the end product, he's going to make mistakes.
"He's going to do things that might frustrate. He's going to do things that you go, 'Hmm, I'm not sure about that'. But he's 22 years old and he's going to improve. I think we have to forget the price tag.
"I was with Paul Scholes yesterday and he made a good point. Just because he's £85 million, that doesn't mean you have to have everything immediately right now. And we shouldn't expect it all to be there. He's 22 years old."
Antony's move from Ajax to Manchester United is official and the transfer fee for the Brazilian forward could rise all the way up to a whopping €100 million.
The Red Devils have been ridiculed by rival fans on social media for spending so much money on the 22-year-old but Erik ten Hag knows what he's doing.
