Chelsea look at clubs in Portugal as start of multi-club model
Chelsea eye a Portuguese club as a potential starting point for their plan to start a new multi-club model, The Telegraph reports.
This was a subject of the conversation between Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly, academy manager Neil Bath and super-agent Jorge Mendes in Portugal in June.
Boehly has confirmed that he's looking to increase Chelsea's profile around the world by buying satellite clubs that they can use for giving game time to young players who are not yet good enough for the first team.
This model has been proven to be successful by the Red Bull Group and the City Football Group which includes Man City as its flagship project.
Chelsea have also looked at clubs in Belgium with some agents working as go-betweens.
