‘Another signing we overpaid for’, 'Still early days': United fans react to Antony's outing vs Real Sociedad
Antony made another start for Man United in their 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad in the Europa League opener on Thursday.
The Brazilian winger was largely anonymous in the game, only getting one shot on target and being unable to create anything big.
He was substituted in the second half for Jadon Sancho after being neutralized by the Spanish side’s backline.
United fans still seem to be polarized with their opinions on the winger, with some supporting him and others calling him out for his poor outings. Here are some of the reactions from Redcafe.
LeftBack99: “He was bad. No point in suger coating it.”
TheUnited: “I know he is new and all. But based on today's performance, worryingly, he seems like a kick and run merchant and average at that.”
Thegregster: “Another signing who we overpaid for. Never an £84m player.”
BerryBerryShrew: “Did very little. Outshone by Elanga and Garnacho showed more when he came on for a few minutes.”
Frank Grimes: “He doesn't look quick enough to me. Tricky yes but for £80m I want tricks and proper pace. I'm not convinced.”
RealName: “Making any conclusions after 2 games is madness.”
ValenciaShinCrosses: “He'll be fine. Posters here want a winger that can win a 40 yard sprint against everyone, but he's got a good burst which is more important for me when beating players.”
BloodMage: “Completely anonymous and ineffective tonight but it's early days for him. Sancho was even worse which is a concern as he's been here for over a year.”
