£210m more than real value: Man United estimated to be biggest overspenders in last decade
The latest research by the CIES Football Observatory is assessing how much clubs from the top five European leagues have overpaid for their signings over the last decade.
To do that, the analysts compared their valuations of the players just before the move to the transfer fees the clubs paid for them.
Man United who spent a total of £1.4billion on 33 players since 2012 are claimed to have overpaid for their signings the most.
CIES estimated the overall value of all the players signed by United at £1.19bn, meaning a £210million overpay.
Juventus are not far behind as they've paid £208m over the odds, with PSG third at £142m.
United spent more than any other club in that period, including the three most expensive transfers in the club's history - Paul Pogba (£89m), Antony (£85m) and Harry Maguire (£80m). One could say that United overpaid for all three.
