2 candidates to strengthen Chelsea's midfield named, Potter coached one of them
Chelsea consider signing Ajax's Edson Alvarez their priority, reports CBS' Ben Jacobs.
It is still possible that the Blues go for Moises Caicedo instead, however. Graham Potter coached the Ecuadorian at Brighton and knows him well.
Both players can play in the defensive midfield, although Caicedo is a bit more attack-minded option. Unlike the Ecuadorian, Alvarez could be used as a centre-back in a three-at-the-back formation.
Both players' contracts expire in 2025, so they won't come for cheap.
❓ Who would you rather go for – the Ajax star or the player who is well-adapted to the Premier League and knows Potter well?
