'We had to prove a point today': Klopp delivers verdict on historic 9-0 win
Liverpool bounced back from a defeat in the best way possible as they played one of their best games ever, smashing Bournemouth 9-0 at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp was pretty happy about the performance and said after the game: "We had to prove a point today.
"Did we see it coming [a 9-0 scoreline]? No. We cannot give guarantees for result but what we expect is guarantees for performance levels.
"It was very important to not concede first and to end the discussions. I am really happy. We had to prove a point today for us, not for anyone else. We wanted to show more passion, more desire and more direction - and we wanted to force it as well.
"It's the best result we ever got - it was the perfect start. We were really on it and put the opponent under incredible pressure. We scored wonderful goals.
"Today the boys didn't stop - we needed to have a proper start and it looked like we did a few things right today.
"We have to prove that this is the start. We will make sure we go again - we will watch Newcastle tomorrow and try to be ready for them."
Liverpool now have five points after four games, with two draws, one loss and now one win. Newcastle are up next at Anfield for the Reds - hopefully, another good result will follow.
