Top source explains why signing new midfielder so difficult for Liverpool

Liverpool are looking for a midfielder. Many players have been linked but there have been no substantial updates on Liverpool pursuing a deal for a particular player.

Reliable journalist Paul Gorst explains why it's so hard for the Reds to find a player they need this late in the window.

"Liverpool's search remains a relatively subdued one, however, with club sources insisting that the overall quality of the squad makes it more difficult to find the "right player" that Klopp has so often spoken about in his press conference," Gorst wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.

"In truth, the situation is not particularly different from the default stance of quietly looking for improvements in the knowledge that it may not necessarily be possible."
