'Sometimes it pays off': Ancelotti explains his 'gamble' against Espanyol
“Each match is different. If we’d started today with Camavinga and Rodrygo, we might not have enjoyed the control of the first hour," Carlo Ancelotti said explaining the decision to drop the youngsters.
"If we’d substituted on Kroos and Modric, maybe we wouldn’t have had energy at the end. It’s a gamble. Sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn’t.”
The gamble paid off indeed with the youngsters coming off the bench to change the tide of the game. Rodrygo registered an assist and Camavinga was simply breathtaking.
