Man United 'confident' of beating Chelsea to Frenkie de Jong signing next week
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Man United will now launch a ‘total offensive’ to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.
The Red Devils are now confident of sealing his signing next week and will make the best financial offer to both the club and player.
United are well aware of Chelsea’s interest in him, but believe they can beat the Blues for De Jong’s acquisition.
They are also ‘totally confident’ of agreeing personal terms with the Dutch midfielder next week, after failing to do so for months.
Of course, this seems repetitive to many reports for the last few months, but things could now intensify for the midfielder's future after he was told by the Blaugrana to take a 50% pay cut or leave.
De Jong ideally doesn’t want to leave Barca and is still trying to get his deferred wages of over £15m from the club.
However, with the club seemingly asking him to leave, he might be forced to do just that and can end up in Manchester by the end of August.
