Man City told Neymar would be a 'downgrade' on Raheem Sterling
Speaking on talkSPORT radio, former England international Trevor Sinclair said: "Neymar is too inconsistent for me. You get one good game out of every four.
"I compared him with Raheem Sterling and a lot of people got on my back, but if you're a manager, you'd want Sterling over Neymar!
"Three games out of four Raheem is top drawer. He might have the odd bad game but with Neymar, you're not getting that consistency."
Neymar was briefly linked with a move to Manchester City earlier this summer following Sterling's £47.5 million transfer to Chelsea.
However, the Brazilian will be staying at Paris Saint-Germain for at least another year with Pep Guardiola not looking to add to his attack for now.
