When asked about whether he feels Cristiano Ronaldo is physically fit enough to start Man United’s game against Brighton on Sunday, Erik ten Hag told Sky Sports: “I cannot tell in this moment.
“He is definitely not on the level of our current squad, because he missed a lot of week. So he needs games and he needs a lot of training.”
Ronaldo made his first appearance under the new manager on Sunday, playing the first half of the 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano.
He probably needs more training to get adapted to Ten Hag’s methods and reach the peak fitness levels the manager wants in his players, which means the 37-year-old is likely to start the Brighton game from the bench.
