Chelsea reach verbal agreement for Fofana, likely to be world record transfer: Multiple sources
As per the reliable French media outlet RMC Sport, Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement with Leicester City for the purchase of Wesley Fofana. Their report has been backed by Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein.
"The clubs are close to completing the transfer. An agreement has been reached for around a world-record fee for a defender," RMC Sport detail.
The current world record fee for a defender is £80m, which Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire in 2019.
Chelsea will reportedly pay around or a little over that amount for Fofana. The 'Here We Go' for the transfer will be announced soon as personal terms were agreed weeks ago, Romano adds.
