Son Heung-min claims he 'took revenge' for racism he faced in Germany by 'watching Germans cry'
"I moved to Germany when I was young, and went through so many really difficult, unimaginable moments," Tottenham forward Son Heung-min said, as quoted by SportBible.
"I faced a lot of racism. And while going through such a really difficult time, I had a lot of thoughts on my mind I should get my revenge one day."
The South Korean played in Germany since the age of 16 before leaving the Bundesliga for Tottenham in 2015, when he was 23.
In 2018, he led South Korea to beat Germany in a group stage game at the 2018 World Cup, sealing the hosts' elimination.
"When people cry, I’d want to comfort them and give them a hug," Son added.
"But watching German people cry, I was able to take revenge by doing something I like."
