The Premier League is set to introduce a few new rules that will aim to curb time-wasting in their games, claims the Daily Mail.
They will create a new ‘multi-ball system’ that will see 10 match balls asked in every game to speed up play and cut time-wasting.
The idea is to have one ball in play, one with the fourth official and eight spread across various points. Two will be behind each goal and two each across each touchline.
However, the ones behind the goal must be positioned in such a way so not to impact the hawk-eye goal-line technology.
Clubs have been told to make at least eight match ball assistants available for each game.
These individuals must make eye contact with the player restarting play before throwing the ball to them and distributing the ball at the same speed for both teams in matches.
Time-wasting tactics have seen many ballboys often refuse to pass the ball to opposition players quick enough and frustrate many.
However, this is now being curbed down by the Premier League, which is aiming to neutralize time-wasting as much as possible from next season onwards.
