MLS to introduce new rule to counter time-wasting - players lying on the ground for 15 seconds will be barred for 3 minutes
The Major League Soccer Next Pro league is implementing an interesting new rule to limit time-wasting tactics.
This will be to ensure minutes aren’t wasted because of player injuries being treated on the pitch.
Any player that is on the ground of 15 seconds will be escorted off the pitch by his team’s medical staff.
That player will then be barred from the pitch for at least three minutes, effectively meaning his side will play with one man less for that period.
This is being done to remove time-wasting tactics from players and ensure the play-acting bit is also cancelled.
