Liverpool players have 'no sense of envy' over Salah's new contract: 'He deserves every penny'

Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract with Liverpool, making him one of the world's highest-paid players as he will be earning £350k a week before bonuses.

The second-highest earner at Liverpool now is Virgil van Dijk, who is reportedly earning £230k a week before bonuses.

While some supporters believe that this gap between the salaries could lead to envy and troubles within the dressing room, The Athletic's James Pearce rubbishes such claims.

He writes: "There’s certainly no sense of envy among the other senior players in the dressing room. Their attitude is that he deserves every penny."

Trent Alexander-Arnold, for example, was very happy with this news and was seen discussing it during his F1 Grand Prix visit. He said: "I'm so happy! Hopefully, we have a few more years to win more trophies!"

Van Dijk also reacted in an awesome manner on Twitter upon hearing the news:

Pearce adds that Jurgen Klopp and his coaching team have been 'very impressed' with Salah's attitude throughout the contract saga, particularly by how he has taken young players such as Harvey Elliott under his wing.

The report also adds that the total 'outlay' of Salah's wages could come down to £55 million over the next three seasons. However, the cost of replacing his output would be way more, and that's before adding the salary of anyone else who would have come in.

Ultimately, the players and the coach are very happy with Salah extending his stay. He will continue to be the 'franchise man'.
