Lisandro Martinez's height won't be a problem in physical Premier League — explained

Lisandro Martinez's transfer to Manchester United is all but official with the Red Devils announcing an agreement with Ajax.

However, the Argentinian is only 1.75m tall (5ft 9'), which seems to cause a lot of concern among some Old Trafford supporters on social media.

Debunked
However, it appears that Man United faithful have nothing to worry about. Last season, Martinez completed more headed clearances than any other player in the Ajax squad, winning 71 per cent of aerial duels.

For reference, it was a greater success rate that Newcastle United's centre-back Dan Burn, who stands at 195cm (6ft 5') managed to achieve during the 2021/22 Premier League campaign (66 per cent).

Ten Hag's confidence
Erik ten Hag, who pushed to bring Martinez to Old Trafford, doesn't appear to be concerned by the 24-year-old's height potentially causing issues.

The Dutchman said: "I think he's not the tallest but he is quite good in the air. I feel comfortable with that. Of course, you need the right balance. He has good timing, that’s one of his capabilities."

A deep dive into the issue by a Man United fan:

No worries
All in all, height isn't the only thing to judge a player by. The likes of David Alaba (1.8m), Thiago Silva (1.83m), Ben White (1.82m), Marquinhos (1.83m) make it to the top level despite their height.

Meanwhile, Chelsea and Barcelona are all over Sevilla's 1.78m (5ft 9') centre-back Jules Kounde and there seems to be not a peep from both camps about the France international's height.
