Frenkie de Jong in 'constant contact' with Ten Hag over United move amid messy saga

According to the Mirror, Frenkie de Jong is actually very open to the prospect of joining Man United in the summer.

The Barcelona midfielder is even in constant dialogue with Erik ten Hag and has reassured him of his desire to join his project at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have even reportedly agreed a €85m fee to sign De Jong from the Spanish club.

But, the major issue that is holding up the deal is the midfielder is owed £17m in deferred wages from Barca.

The La Liga side are unwilling to pay that, causing this entire deal to be stuck as De Jong is yet to agree personal terms with United.

But, Ten Hag is still eager to reunite with the Dutchman and has urged his side to keep chasing him until the very end of the summer transfer window.

De Jong has been added to Barca’s US pre-season tour squad, which means he’s unlikely to join United anytime soon.
