Zinedine Zidane: 'I would have thrown myself from a building for my wife'

Back in 1989 when Zinedine Zidane was playing for Bordeaux in France he met and fell in love with the beautiful Veronique - she was only 18 at the time.

The couple got married five years later. However, it wasn't until 2020 that Zidane would reveal the extent of his love for Veronique - in his biography.

"When I met her [Veronique], I would have thrown myself from the top of a building for her to love me," Zidane told his biographer Hermel.

It is believed that Zidane's closely-knit family of six, kept together by his unflinching love for Veronique, is a huge factor in his success, both as a player and later as a coach.

Zidane has been married to Veronique since the age of 17.
