Why Man United have set up new Twitter account for Erik ten Hag
According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United have created a new Twitter account for Erik ten Hag to prevent fake accounts from spreading rumours.
The Dutchman, 52, is not on any social media platform but digital experts at the club have set up a Twitter profile for him.
Since announcing him as the new manager, several fake accounts have been created on Twitter with people trying to impersonate Ten Hag.
However, United have confirmed to the Daily Mirror that the handle @eriktenhag belongs to our new boss.
The account is currently locked and has one hidden follower. However, it has the blue verified mark next to the username.
Ten Hag is not expected to use it to personally tweet his thoughts. Instead, the social media team could post on his behalf - with his consent, of course - to share 'sponsorship and commercial promotions'.
