Wayne Rooney's agent being investigated for paying wages of Derby County players and staff last season

Wayne Rooney’s long-time agent Paul Stretford is currently being investigated by the Football Association (FA), as per The Telegraph.

It’s claimed that the English manager’s agent was allegedly paying the wages of Derby County’s players and staff last season before Chris Kirchner’s failed takeover bid.

The FA holds such a scenario as a major conflict of interest and it could not only result in a fine for Stretford, but see his licenses cancelled.

Rooney had often spoken about the financial plight of Derby last season and that certain people within the club were struggling due to non-payment of their salaries.

Stretford’s acts might come out as admirable for him, but they do not fall in line with FA’s policies and he could be punished for it.

Rooney recently resigned from his role as Derby manager after helping them put on a brave fight in a doomed relegation season last time around.
