Manchester United are hoping that Erik ten Hag will be able to get the best out of the Harry Maguire–Raphael Varane partnership next season.
According to The National, a tier-two source, the Dutchman believes that Varane can have a 'much better second season' after struggling in his debut year.
As for Maguire, there's a belief that the Old Trafford skipper 'can get back to the level' he was at a year ago before suffering an injury towards the end of the 2020/21 season.
Victor Lindelof is also rated by the new manager but it's the Englishman and the Frenchman who are expected to be the starting centre-back duo at the club heading into the 2022/23 campaign.
