Telegraph: PSG 'hoped' Mauricio Pochettino would be appointed Man United boss
Paris Saint-Germain 'hoped' that Manchester United would appoint Mauricio Pochettino last year, as per the Telegraph.
The Ligue 1 giants were happy to let the Argentine join the Red Devils in order to avoid paying him a £17 million severance package.
Pochettino was linked with a move to Old Trafford in November 2021 following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's departure but Ralf Rangnick was appointed instead.
The 50-year-old, whose PSG exit is all but official, was in the running for the job again this spring but Man United opted to go with Erik ten Hag as their next permanent manager.
