Salah open to leaving Liverpool for Premier League rival on free transfer in 2023
The Athletic's James Pearce has provided an update on Mo Salah's future. The Egyptian's deal is up in 2023 and he has not signed an extension yet.
It is claimed that the Reds offered Salah a 15 per cent pay rise on his current deal, an offer deemed insufficient by the forward and his camp.
Salah's preference is to stay but he wants his new contract to reflect his status as one of the best players in the world today.
Unless he gets a significantly better offer, Mo intends to leave Liverpool on free transfer in 2023. He would like to stay at the Premier League if that happens.
Liverpool have not given up on retaining the forward's services and are planning to come back with another offer.
The prospect of Salah leaving for a Premier League rival, be it City, Chelsea or even United, is difficult to believe. But James Pearce is an extremely reliable source regarding all things Liverpool so however unlikely, this is something we should be prepared for.
