Ronaldo Nazario to cycle 500km as part of promise after Real Valladolid promoted to La Liga
Real Madrid legend Ronaldo Nazario has begun a long bicycle trip from Valladolid to Santiago de Compostela, a famous shrine in northwestern Spain.
It is a traditional pilgrimage route, and Ronaldo promised to do the trip if his club Real Valladolid got promoted to La Liga.
"I promised that if we came back [to La Liga], I would do the Camino de Santiago," he has said, as quoted by The Guardian.
"I will do it by bike as I can’t run. My wife and I will leave from Valladolid on Sunday and travel to Santiago de Compostela by bicycle. It will be beautiful.
"I know that I will suffer physically but it will be an unforgettable experience."
Ronaldo bought a 51% stake in Valladolid back in 2018 when they were still a La Liga club. They got relegated last season and were quick to make a comeback.
