Revealed: Guardiola Personally Met Face To Face With Pogba To Join Man City

Pep Guardiola privately met with Paul Pogba in a bid to persuade the Manchester United midfielder to join Manchester City, according to The Athletic.

The City boss is said to have explained to Pogba why he wanted him at the Etihad, while Txiki Begiristain, City’s director of football, is believed to have presented a contract that would have made the France international one of the club's top earners.

Pogba is understood to have considered City's offer but was conscious of the media furore that would be triggered by swapping Old Trafford for the Etihad.

The 29-year-old has held talks with several of Europe's top clubs about joining on a free transfer, and has offers on the table from former side Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
