Pedri reportedly to inherit no.8 shirt from Dani Alves
Dani Alves will be leaving Barcelona this summer as the club did not offer him an extension. This means that his no.8 will become vacant on July 1.
However, the Catalans will not offer it to one of the new signings. Instead, the no.8 jersey will go to Pedri, Mundo Deportivo report.
What's interesting, the shirt number might have gone to Pedri even if Dani continued at the club.
"Yes, I’ve told Pedri I would leave the '8' for him. He said in an interview he liked this number - I talked to the people of the club, that next season if they want him to take it, of course. If I leave, he can keep it directly," the Brazilian told Mundo Deportivo back in April.
When Pedri only joined Barca, the no.8 jersey belonged to Miralem Pjanic. The youngster had to settle for no.16, one of the few available options at the moment.
The no.6 jersey once belonged to Andres Iniesta, Pedri's role model.
