Luka Modric Hits Out At 'Inhuman' Fixture Schedules For Footballers
Speaking after Croatia's 1-0 win over France in the Nations League, Luka Modric told reporters: "Every game for the national team is important, regardless if it's a friendly or Nations League.
"What bothers me a lot is the abnormal congestion of games after a very hard season.
"They put 4 games in 10 days. It's inhuman."
The Real Madrid midfielder's former teammate Gareth Bale too recently slammed the organisers for their hectic fixture schedules.
Adding all the national team games to the ones they play for their clubs makes it a lot in one calendar year for any human being.
It's high time player welfare is taken seriously by those at the top. It's either that or risk a massive burnout which could lead to health complications.
