Marca report that, with the first round of votes ongoing, Bayer Leverkusen's youngster Piero Hincapie is leading the race for the 2022 Golden Boy Award. The reason for it is rather simple - a mass voting campaign from the Ecuador fans.

However, the eventual winner will be either Eduardo Camavinga or Gavi. Currently, they are ranked second and third respectively.

Camavinga - 46 matches, 17 starts, 2 goals, 2 assists

Gavi - 47 matches, 37 starts, 2 goals, 6 assists

Camavinga had the better season on the team level, with Real Madrid winning La Liga, Champions League and Spanish Super Cup.

Some might say that Gavi had the better season on the personal level, though. His performances for Barcelona earned him a place on the national team. He's made 10 appearances and scored one goal for Spain during the 2021/22 season.
