Frenkie de Jong: 'The style at Netherlands suits me better than at Barca'

"The way I play in the Netherlands is different from the way I play in Barcelona. The style I play at the Netherlands suits me better than the style I play in Barcelona," Frenkie de Jong has said.

"I like to be the first player to receive the ball from the defenders."

Frenkie usually plays in a double-pivot system at the Netherlands. At Barca, though, he is usually deployed as central midfielder in a 4-3-3 system. At times he is used as the single pivot, although it is not his natural position.

In the 2021/22 season, the Dutchman played 46 games for Barca and recorded four goals and five assists.
