Barcelona have decided against pursuing a summer move for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, claims Sport.
The Dutch defender could be available this summer after reportedly having rejected a contract extension offer from the Italian side.
But Barca will not be vying for De Ligt’s signing because of his €100m transfer price tag.
Moreover, the Blaugrana will not be able to afford his massive wage demands either due to their financial situation.
Barca are set to add a new centre-back to their squad in Andreas Christensen, but Xavi Hernandez wants to sign another top-quality defender to strengthen his backline next season.
