Atletico Madrid 'contact' Gareth Bale over possible transfer

According to El Chiringuito, Atletico Madrid have contacted Gareth Bale over possibly joining them on a free transfer this summer.

The Welshman, 32, will leave Real Madrid once his contract expires at the end of this month.

After a turbulent spell with more lows than highs, Bale leaves on a bitter note from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Recent reports claimed that Bale has been offered to Getafe on a short-term spell - one that was quickly dismissed by his agent.

Joining Atletico after playing for so many years at Real Madrid will not go down well with the fans.

Nevertheless, Bale scored five goals and assisted thrice in seven La Liga games last season.
