'Ansu Told Me I Had 8 Days To Beat Him': Gavi Opens Up On His Spain Record

"Ansu [Fati] told me that he had eight days to beat his record... He was glad that I did it and we are both very happy to be here," Gavi has said, as quoted by Diario Sport.

"I hope many more goals will come. It was a quick play, Rodri passed it to me, I controlled the ball and I tried to bend it with my left foot; I celebrated quickly because we were losing and we wanted to come back.

"I am proud of the record. And not just of that, I'm proud of being in the senior team. I thank those who put trust in me and I thank my teammates."

Gavi became the youngest goalscorer in Spain's history after scoring against Czechia at 17 years and 305 days of age. The previous record belonged to another Barcelona player, Fati, who scored his first goal at 17 years and 311 days of age.
