Valencia Fires President Murthy After Liverpool, Newcastle 'S*** Cities' Jibe

Valencia have fired president Anil Murthy over the latest secret recordings published in Superdeporte.

Murthy recently made headlines when leaked audio files had the then president slamming other clubs, Valencia and their players.

Among the latest soundbites, Murthy slams Liverpool and Newcastle.

“Liverpool is a s*** city," said Murthy.

“But Liverpool as a club started to globalise itself 20 years ago to have a budget and now it has one of a billion euros. If you go to Liverpool and Valencia there is a great difference, even in the streets of the city. The industry exists, but the club, it's a club that is local there, it has its fans, its fan groups, but it is very international."

“Newcastle is a s*** city too but a club that has a level of patronage…"

Now Valencia have fired Murthy, with the club announcing: "The board would like to make it clear that the talks that Anil Murthy and a third party have had together have nothing to do with Valencia. Valencia will not be associated with his views.

"The board appreciates a close relationship between the club, the fans, the media, etc. The board is of the belief that a new leader in the club is needed to regain the trust of the fans. Therefore, as of today, Anil Murthy is no longer president or employee of Valencia CF."
