Sadio Mane broke the record for most goals scored by an African player in Champions League knockout rounds after netting in Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Villarreal on Tuesday.
The winger has now scored 15 goals in Champions League knock-round games with Liverpool.
Didier Drogba had held the record for a long time after having scored 14 goals in big knockout games in the competition.
Mane capitalized on a horrible goalkeeping error from Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli to score Liverpool’s third in the game, effectively sealing the tie.
The 30-year-old has 5 goals in 12 Champions League games this season and will have a chance to increase that in the final.
