Liverpool Fans Whistled The UK National Anthem Ahead Of The FA Cup Final
Liverpool fans whistled the UK national anthem ahead of the FA Cup final. It caused quite a stir, with Boris Johnson's spokesperson hitting out at Jurgen Klopp for defending the Reds' supporters.
Rival fans are discussing the incident as well. We've taken a look at what United fans on the Red Cafe forum think about it and many of them side with Liverpool.
The solidarity is in United fans' fashion — using the poverty slurs ("dippers") for Liverpool supporters — but , interestingly, they are not hating on the Reds on this one.
Smithy89: "I would too, feck that national anthem and that family."
DOTA: "They have a healthy disdain for it."
Jazz: "They are against the establishment which doesn't care for any of us ordinary folks. Got no problem with Liverpool fans showing their feelings."
villain: "Everyone should boo the Royal family."
Drizzle: "BesThe besting the little rats have done.
"And yes, United were there first. It took off in the 90s. A lot of anti-England sentiment (and chants) from local fans.
"With all due respect to non-local fans, it's hard to understand how screwed over northern cities have been by the London establishment. And that disaffection comes out in different ways at different times.
"As a counterpoint, it's not even about patriotism. It's specifically anti-establishment and anti-royalist. Different things, and I will defend anyone's right to boo their anthem. Even the dippers."
Frosty: "It is making me hate them less, and for that reason I am uncomfortable."
Ramshock: "Its a shite national anthem and well done to the dippers for boiling the piss of the little Englanders"
