Jordan and James Milner not getting younger: Gerrard gives Liverpool transfer advice

Jordan and James Milner are not getting any younger," Steven Gerrard said, as quoted by the Metro.

"They’re still top players at this level, of course, and they’ll want to go on and do more.

"But for Liverpool, if you think about the next five, six, seven years, they’re going to need a midfielder, an eight, who can get goals, who can get double figures.

"They are heavily reliant on the front three – or the front five if you include Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino.

"But you always need one of those midfielders that’s going to get in the box and get you goals."

Basically, Gerrard suggests Liverpool sign a player like he was. The problem is that this kind of player is extremely difficult to find!

Liverpool are linked with a move for Aurelien Tchouameni but the Frenchman looks like a more defensive player.

Jude Bellingham looks like the kind of player Stevie talks about but he has already announced he's staying at Dortmund beyond this summer.

The Reds have already signed Fabio Carvalho from Fulham. The 19-year-old is versatile and can play as a forward and a playmaker; maybe he could develop into a world-class number eight under Jurgen Klopp's careful guidance.
