AC Milan Coach Stefano Pioli's Serie A Winner’s Medal Stolen

Stefano Pioli’s Serie A winner’s medal was snatched during parties at the Mapei Stadium today: ‘Help me find it, it’s the only one I have.’

The Italian tactician won the first Scudetto in his career today after a 3-0 victory over Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium.

It was Milan‘s first Scudetto in 11 years, the 19th in the club’s history. However, not everything went to plan in Reggio Emilia today. Pioli had his winner’s medal stolen on the pitch at the Mapei Stadium and is heading to Milano without it.

“It was stolen the winner’s medal, someone stripped it from my neck. If I could appeal, I’d be grateful, it’s the only one I have,” he said, according to La Repubblica.

The 56-year-old had committed the title win to his father, who died in September 2019, a few weeks before his selection as Milan coach. “He’ll be proud of me, wherever he is now,” the Rossoneri coach told DAZN after the match.

Pioli was named Coach of the Season after today’s game at Sassuolo and was given the award by Paolo Maldini during a post-match interview with DAZN.

The Lega Serie A saw the appeal and came to his rescue, promising via Twitter: “Don’t worry Mr Pioli, we’ll give you the medal again tomorrow.”.
