OFFICIAL: Ralf Rangnick appointed new Austria boss, Man United consultancy will continue
Ralf Rangnick has been appointed as the new head coach of the Austria national football team, it was announced on Friday.
The German has signed a two-year contract which will be automatically extended by a further two years if Austria qualify for Euro 2024.
It has also been confirmed that the 63-year-old will still work in a consultancy role at Manchester United under new Old Trafford manager Erik ten Hag.
Rangnick said: "I will take over as manager of Austria but will continue consultancy with Man United. I'm looking forward to helping the club become a real force again."
Peter Schottel, sporting director of Austrian FA, added: "After a very well-founded and intensive process, we were able to win Rangnick, an absolute top man with great international reputation as team boss. Makes me very proud and really looking forward to working together."
