Man City beat Real Madrid 4-3 in instant Champions League classic
Man City have defeated Real Madrid 4-3 in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final tie.
It was a very entertaining game for neutral fans, both sides showed a lot of quality (that Vinicius no-touch dribble past Fernandinho...).
City took less than two minutes to break the deadlock, with De Bruyne heading the ball past Courtois. Gabriel Jesus doubled the lead just nine minutes after the opener.
It felt as if the game was won for the Citizens but Madrid pulled one back through Benzema in the 33rd minute.
Pep's team kept pushing and restored a two-goal lead less than ten minutes after the break, with Foden capitalising on a Militao mistake.
But Madrid pulled one back again, this time through Vinicius, who found the bottom corner after a brilliant jinking run.
Bernardo Silva scored a strange goal, smacking the ball into top corner while Madrid players stopped playing thinking it was a free kick for Kroos' challenge.
Madrid did not give up. Aymeric Laporte conceded a penalty with ten minutes to go and Benzema converted scoring a Panenka of sheer composure.
Man City dominated Madrid for large parts of the game but the Whites used their chances really well.
The winner of the City v Madrid tie will face either Liverpool or Villarreal in the final.
