Liverpool release statement after increasing number of vile Hillsborough chants in matches

Over the past week, Manchester City fans booed the minute of silence for the victims of the tragic Hillsborough disaster. Two nights ago, Manchester United fans sang a vile chant accusing Liverpool fans of being murderers during that day 33 years ago.

The number of vile chants has been increasing and Liverpool released a statement over the same today.

"Liverpool FC is saddened by the recent rise in vile chants about the Hillsborough disaster.

"We know the impact these abhorrent slurs have on the families of the 97, those who survived, and all associated with this club.

"We are working with the relevant authorities to do our utmost to ensure these chants are eradicated from football altogether and, where appropriate, bring the full force of the law and the game’s sanction process down on those who continue to sing them."

Man City and United both released statements of apology towards Liverpool and its supporters for these actions.

Hopefully, the people responsible for these chants and gestures get what they deserve - there's no place for them in any stadium.
