Barcelona president Joan Laporta has explained why they along with Real Madrid and Juventus are still pushing for the Super League.
He said: “We cannot allow European football to be in the hands of states (PSG and Man City) that are not part of the EU and we will fight against that.
“Not only the three clubs I mention, but also others who are silent but support us from the Background. Super League will continue.”
The three clubs still associated with the Super League are trying to bring it back with new rules, including qualification being based on league standings and making it more open for all teams.
Yet, no other prominent club has shown any interest in rejoining the Super League project after the kind of backlash it received from fans last year.
