Joan Laporta gives update on Gavi's contract after Araujo's renewal

"We have laid the foundations for the future," Barcelona president Joan Laporta said at Araujo's contract signing.

"A centre-back like Araujo, midfielders like Pedri and Nico, and hopefully Gavi too, forwards like Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres who is also young and arrived recently.

"We hope to give good news about Gavi. Work is underway," Laporta added.

Gavi's contract will expire in 2023, which is why Barcelona are working hard to extend it.

The midfielder is currently among the best under-21 players in the world despite being just 17.
