FA Cup winners could be given Champions League spot in 2024 - but there's a catch

As per new rules being set by UEFA, the FA Cup winners could receive an automatic spot in the Champions League from the 2024/25 season – claims the Telegraph.

However, this could only be viable for a ‘big club’ who wins the FA Cup but fails to secure a top-4 finish in the Premier League.

The FA Cup winners’ qualification will all depend on their co-efficient ranking and they need to be ranked high in UEFA’s co-efficient ladder.

For example, if a team like Southampton won the FA Cup but their co-efficient ranking is very low, they wouldn’t get a place in the Champions League.

These new rules are ‘very close to agreement’ and are being made to help the bigger clubs get another lifeline at Champions League qualification if unable to get a top-4 finish.
