Cristiano Ronaldo to miss Liverpool game after death of his newborn son

"Family is more important than everything and Ronaldo is supporting his loved ones at this immensely difficult time," Man United have said in a statement.

"As such, we can confirm that he will not feature in the match against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday evening and we underline the family's request for privacy.

"Cristiano, we are all thinking of you and sending strength to the family."

On Monday, Ronaldo shared that one of his newborn twins, a baby boy, passed away on Monday.

The 37-year-old's partner Georgina Rodriguez was pregnant was a boy and a girl but only the daughter survived after Georgina gave birth on Monday.
