After impressing against Norwich, Elanga may have staked his claim to start against Liverpool

Ralf Rangnick was full of praise for Anthony Elanga after the youngster played a crucial role in the win against Norwich.

He was full of energy, closing down Gibson for Ronaldo's first goal and later deputising at right-back when Marcus Rashford came on.

“I had to decide between him (Marcus) and Anthony Elanga today (against Norwich),” he said in his post-match press conference.

“I think Anthony, not only did he do well when he prepared the first goal, he also played for the first time in his career as a right-back and did well in the last 20 minutes, the way he defended.

“He won most of the balls on his side in those 20 minutes and then Marcus came on for the last 25 minutes.”

Marcus Rashford has fallen below Elanga in the pecking order ever since Solskjaer's departure and seems to be struggling to find his feet again.

With United likely to play without the ball for the majority of the game against Liverpool and it would sensible for Ralf to play a more positive player like Elanga, at the moment.
