Negative salary limit: Barca can't sign or register new players - 4 ways to improve it

Barcelona can't sign or register new players with their negative salary limit of -€144m, as revealed by La Liga on Monday.

At the end of last summer, Barca had a positive salary limit of €97m, but still failed to register Lionel Messi.

Thus, it puts the club at risk of getting serious sanctions from La Liga like a transfer ban, if they add any more players to their budget.

Here are 4 things Barca can do to change the ugly narrative:

1. Sell off or release highest earners

As a matter of urgency, Barcelona must sell their highest earners if they're to be able to compete financially.

That means the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti and even Memphis Depay may have to leave.

2. Sign new sponsors

Barcelona have been talking with Spotify and other sponsors for months now but are yet to make any signings. That deal must happen sooner than later if Barca are serious about signing new players.

3. Sell Barca studios

Barcelona can reportedly make €350m if they sell 49% stake of Barca studios. Such a deal must be fast-tracked to save Barca.

4. Qualify for Champions League

Barca's finances will get some boost if the Blaugrana were to qualify for the Champions League and at least reach the quarter-final or semi-final.

For now, Barca can't register new players unless they get some serious inflow of cash!
